Une belle surprise!
Au début, nous avons eu peur car endroit excentré, avec des maisons délabrées au pied de la colline...et ça monte! donc ne pas arriver de nuit...mais finalement, notre maison s'est révélée trés agréable, un lieu paisible, un peu hors du temps avec son mobilier ancien, mais confortable, avec tout le nécessaire...le restaurant du backpack en bas est proche et pratique le soir quand on arrive, notre hôte très sympathique, bon petit déjeuner servi sur la terrasse. L'intérêt majeur est la vue sur l'océan et la plage, et la végétation luxuriante alentours.
Vraiment un superbe endroit qui nous a donné envie d'y revenir plus longtemps!

Waking up in a place full of nature sounds and fresh air is a blessing. Sitting outside looking over the ocean from the balcony is what we enjoyed most.
Jewel the lady who received us also gave information on where to get what.
The kitchen was fully equipped to cook the food going with our braai.

The owner does not really care about the guest's concerns about safety issues in the area and responds with laughing. Not very helpful.
It's a shame that she doesn't understand that you wouldn't ignore a police man's warning as a foreigner. When she is answering that her place would be so chilled, it doesn't really change the town itself or a road with ongoing fights.

Wir hatten zwei Nächte gebucht, leider konnten wir aufgrund einer Schießerei zwischen rivalisierenden Taxigangs in Port st.Jones nicht anreisen. Mehrere Einheimische darunter ein Polizist aus Port St.Jones hat uns vehement davon abgeraten in den Ort zu fahren. Dennoch war die Inhaberin nicht bereit uns auch nur einen Teil der Kosten zu erstatten obwohl wir ihr bereits mittags Bescheid gegeben haben. Trauriger Umgang mit Gästen.

Where ever you go, you going to find some negative reviews, simply because it is impossible to please or cater for every person's desires. However, I can tell you, that there aren't many places on the planet like this, an absolute hidden gem in South Africa. I loved every minute of my 3 weeks that I spent at Delicious Monster. This subtropical climate makes you feel like you on some exotic island, tons of bird life, many which are unique to the area and plant life that's simply out of this world. To top it off the host was lovely and made my stay even more comfortable than ever.

Delicious Monster Accommodation is located north of second beach, which was a little more beyond town than expected. The beach itself is quite popular with several drinking spots nearby making it unpleasant place to drive past for a family seeking calm and quiet. However, the accommodation itself is secluded, calm and with a beautiful view. The pictures are quite overstated though. I was also little taken a back by the "gable" type family room with thatched ceilings and high stairs - no doubt exciting for my 3 y/o but also a tad unsafe. Overall, the place is ok, the host nice but I'd lower my expectations based on the pictures published on the accommodation site.

Beautiful place, there's no denying that, However when we stayed there (which was admittedly some time ago now) there were leaking taps, large amounts of dirt about the place and unfortunately a party was going all night long promoting us to leave before the sun was up and from what we saw we lasted longer than some other guests! We also had concerns about the safety of the vehicle as the parking lot is completely open; it would also be advisable to bring a high clearance car and get there before dark as it is a rather interesting driveway

The party was admittedly on another property and I'm sure at quieter times it is more enjoyable but I can only rapport on what I experienced. But again, as far as views go it was incredible!
