Aah. To visit Amsterdam and live like a local. The chinese place down the road, the ducks and birds, and the ferry, oh THE ferry. SO MUCH FUN! Kids loved and I'm ready to plan a trip back. Prepare to walk from the ferry if uber drivers decide to take the evening off.

There are accommodations a person stays at while traveling that become just as memorable as the city the person goes to. This is the case with the Albatross B&B in Amsterdam. A super cozy houseboat on an intimate canal in Amsterdam Noord across the Nordzeekanaal from the primary tourist hub of the city proper.
I was very keen to do more than just stay in a hotel in Amsterdam, but staying on a boat in the city is overly expensive. The Albatross B&B is the same price as the very modest hotels I was looking at and comes with far more atmosphere and interest. However, I was initially cautious to book, as I had no idea how complicated it might be to travel in and out from the location to the city. It is easy. Probably even easier than negotiating the maze of streets for a hotel in Amsterdam. First day we took the free ferry across the river from Centraal station and walked the 20 easy minutes to the houseboat. The next few days it was the bus, from the stop 60 seconds walk from the front door, to the metro line and straight into the museums and Amsterdam Centraal. Total time less than 30 minutes no matter which option. But the added bonus is, we now feel like we have been more than a herded tourist.
And this peaceful location allowed us to enjoy something that being in the city did not. Space. The large window/doors of our bedroom looked out over the canal on two sides. So it was 180 degrees of calm. We rented bikes for a cycle to Zaans Schaans, from the more than gracious hosts Elise and Richard, and when we got back, I opened the door and dove directly into the canal for a refreshing swim.
The breakfast nook is well appointed for a self-service breakfast and coffee. A Supermarket is a 5-minute walk away for guests to make up our own memorable cheese, pate and bread dinner, washed down with a complimentary bottle of wine from the B&B while overlooking the twinkle of houseboat lights down the canal. I do not think I have ever been able to relax after a day on my feet as quickly or as well as I did while staying here. The hosts were extremely gracious with their knowledge and help and it brought the feelings for the stay to another level. My recommendation is ditch staying in the city and give yourself the rare and charming experience of nights on the water at the Albatross B&B while visiting Amsterdam.

Wat een fantastisch verblijf was het hier, die drie nachten op de woonboot de Albatros. We gingen er naar toe om Amsterdam Noord te verkennen. Want….woonachtig in de Rivierenbuurt hadden we zin in een nieuwe omgeving. En Noord heeft me al lang getrokken, En dat hebben we gedaan, goed uitgerust (prima matrassen, en na een voortreffelijk ontbijt, hebben we op de fiets Adam Noord verkend. En zal ik jullie wat vertellen. We hebben in Noord een appartement gekocht in de week na ons verblijf. We krijgen de sleutel mid februari, Dit was een gouden greep om mijn man te overtuigen dat Noord the place to be is,

Die Zimmer sind wirklich sehr nett!! Das seehr lange Haar in der Dusche war leicht entfernt.
Der Außenbereich ist lieb gemeint, aber leider wird er nicht gepflegt. Vertrockneter Tannenbaum, Spinnweben, verschmutzte Möbel signalisiert einem nicht willkommen zu sein.
Das Frühstück lässt auch sehr zu wünschen übrig. Es werden abends Sachen für den nächten Morgen in den Kühlschrank gelegt. Grundsätzlich gute Idee aber es sind angebrochene Kaufpackungen und das ist unappetitlich. Hübsch auf einem Teller hergerichtet mit Folie abgedeckt würde es viel verlockender sein.
Das Tretboot hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht.

Wat een fantastische plekje in Amsterdam. Heerlijk rustig en het centrum is per fiets of openbaar vervoer prima en snel te bereiken.
We hebben genoten van de gastvrijheid van Elise en Richard.
Zeker een aanrader voor een bezoekje aan Amsterdam.
Je hebt een eigen ingang, terras gedeelte en bij mooi weer buiten zwem mogelijkheden.

Mooie rustige plek in Amsterdam Noord. Prachtige uitzichten over het water en mogelijkheid om te zwemmen en kanoën. Heerlijke tijd gehad super host. Alle vrijheid om te ontbijten wanneer je zelf wilt met uitzicht op het water op de kamer of in het prieel.

Es fehlt ein kleiner Schrank im Zimmer mit Bügel.
Samstag hat der Vermieter gefeiert bis in die Nacht. Es war so laut als ob wir mittendrin waren.Ansonsten alles sehr schön angelegt
