I heartfelt thank you to Paul and Karen for their outstanding hospitality and warmth during our several day visit to their lovely Bed and Breakfast. We were anticipating something quite nice based on the pictures and the description we saw when we made the reservation. And, from the 40+ page guide/overview that was emailed to us with all sorts of tips regarding the place and the city. However, when we walked into our Canal View Suite, we looked at each other and said at the same time, "We could live here". The suite was perfect in every way: decor, furnishings, sky-light with chandelier, bedding, bathroom and a fully supplied kitchen. The bathroom and the towels were immaculate and plush. There was an abundance of space that was at the same time cozy. The front view was of the canal and the back balcony was filled with lavender, roses and greens.|The bed was perfect and there was no noise at all. Air conditioning worked very well.|Every afternoon there were treats left for us in the kitchen. And, there was a remarkable drink/liquor that is native to Amsterdam that was kept in an always full decanter with crystal glasses for us to enjoy . The B & B was centrally located to the #2 Tram Line, 5-7 minute walk, which will take you everywhere you need to go. About a 5-7 minute walk was a street filled with wonderful restaurants. We dined in Indonesian, Indian and Italian restaurants all located steps from one another. Thank you, Paul and Karen!

My kids (21 and 25) and I had the best time staying at Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam, it made our first visit to Amsterdam an amazing experience! We like to stay in areas where locals live when possible rather than being surrounded by “all tourists, all the time” and this was perfect in every way. It’s in a residential area that isn’t targeted to tourists, but we had no problems navigating local restaurants and the grocery store, while being a short tram ride from the must-see destinations. It is beautifully decorated and was absolutely spotless. Paul and Karen were amazing hosts, providing a helpful orientation upon arrival and leaving us many treats and thoughtful breakfast items. The guidebook they’ve compiled provided excellent information too. A highlight was the private canal tour with Paul, showing us the beauty of the city in a way that was much more meaningful and fascinating than if we were part of a large group hearing scripted commentary through a loudspeaker. One of my favorite things in the B&B was the kitchen. The kids and I spent much of our downtime there just hanging out there together at the kitchen table drinking tea and Espresso, visiting, and planning other parts of the trip. We picked up food at the grocery for some of our meals since it was so relaxing to be there. It just had a very comfortable and warm vibe.|It’s best to book through the Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam website directly. I fully recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic and amazing home base for exploring the city.

There are honestly not enough superlatives available to explain exactly how perfect and amazing this Bed and Breakfast is! Perfect location. Impeccable accommodations. Extraordinarily kind and gracious hosts Paul and Karen make you feel welcome from the moment you make the reservation until the moment you leave. We travel all over the world and have stayed in many different types of accommodations and this is honestly in the top 1% of any place we have stayed anywhere in the world!!! I have been to Amsterdam many many times and this is the best stay I have ever had! First of all, the suite is gorgeous ! It looks onto a beautiful canal in the front and in the back there is a balcony with a quiet sweet garden. It is located walking distance to Vondel Park and 3 minute walk to a street that is full of Restaurants. And they have thought of everything! The towels are luxurious, beautiful plates, and glasses. The afternoon treats are simply delicious! The first morning welcome breakfast (if you book directly, you get the welcome breakfast) came in a white basket with delicious bread, Local, butter and cheese, homemade jam, and yummy yogurt. They have written a guide that is beautifully bound and has all the information you could ever need. It is so beautiful and peaceful I honestly wish our stay were longer!

Paul and Karen were the most generous hosts. Our family had the most exceptional stay at their property, so much so that they all preferred to stay in and relax!

The room was immaculate and catered to our children so well, with daily treats. The fridge was well stocked, and they even provided the freshest local breakfast on day one as a surprise.

The light and openness of the room was superb, with an open air balcony for adults to sip a glass of vino on.

In terms of location, the apartment is so close to Vondelpark, which features a fun playground and a lovely cafe. It’s served by both Trams 2 and 17 nearby so made for an excellent base to explore the city.

Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam is everything we could have hoped for on our first trip to Amsterdam. The location was within convenient walking distance to shops, restaurants and transportation. The rooms were as pristine as the pictures shown on Tripadvisor. Paul and Karen were gracious hosts offering us great insite on how to navigate through the amenities and all that Amsterdam has to offer. We felt fortunate to enjoy an extended stay here when our trip was unexpectedly extended. We plan to return to Amsterdam within the next two years and will make sure to include another stay at the Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam. Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam is a tremendous value!

Paul and Karen were the PERFECT hosts. They were so very kind and provided so much. We didn't expect that. The first day they brought us a wonderful breakfast for the whole family and every day they had lovely treats for all. They stocked the refrigerator with some goodies too!

There are plenty of restaurants extremely close as well.

They'd come and straighten up the room and ensure we were pleased (we were).

They provided us with (in English) specific details how to get all over Amsterdam. It was very easy to follow and replicate.

The rooms decor was cheerful and open and has a lovely view of a canal adjacent to the home.

We can't say enough positive words to describe our satisfaction with the home and with Paul and Karen.

One thing to be aware of is that Amsterdam homes are built narrow and quite tall. Therefore, if you have physical limitations, climbing steep stairs may be a concern. Otherwise, it was a pleasure to be in their beautiful welcoming home!

My husband and I stayed at Paul and Karen’s bed and breakfast April 12-15, 2024. It is an absolutely beautiful apartment, it was impeccably clean and Paul was so accommodating. We also thoroughly enjoyed a canal ride with Paul. The b&b is close to restaurants and walkable to a tram stop to get to downtown. The only caution I would point out is the steep two sets of stairs to reach the apartment. The railings make it very safe, but if you can’t climb stairs, this lovely space might be a challenge. Thank you to Paul for making our visit such a memorable one!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in Paul and Karen’s canal suite for 4 nights in August 2023. It was the perfect place to call home while traveling! The suite was spacious and spotless with attention to any detail a visitor may need taken care of. Paul spent time with us at check-in to review all that the suite had to offer, local transportation, grocery shopping options, restaurants, attractions and more. The daily ‘treats’ were beyond delicious and so very much appreciated. We walked everywhere – center city began a mere 20-25 minute walk (through Vondelpark) away. Trams were readily available nearby and easy to navigate, but walking afforded us the opportunity to get a real feel for each neighborhood we wandered through. We loved coming back to a quiet neighborhood after a full day of touring. Restaurants are abundant both in the city and near the BnB, but we enjoyed relaxing in the suite’s solitude with take-out and a bottle of wine! A perfect end to a wonderful day. For everyone and anyone able to navigate an admittedly steep set of stairs up to the third floor, look no further - the canal suite is heaven. We were not able to take advantage of Paul’s boat ride through the canals because of rain. We look forward to booking that tour when we definitely return to our ‘home away from home’ at Paul and Karen’s one day.
