We stayed in the Canal View room for 4 night in July 2025. The room was absolutely perfect and exactly what we expected.
When we arrived our friendly host greeted us and gave us great advice about the area.

I didn’t take pictures of the room but everything was as represented in their own website. The stairs to the room were steep and are worth mentioning for anyone concerned with mobility. The room is clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We slept with open windows and were not disturbed by street noise.

The location is unbelievable. It is a short walk to all conveniences and honourable mention to the cafe a few doors down with incredible lattes.pastries and service.

We used public transit from the train station to get to the apartment and the directions from our host were spot on. While we were navigating a new city’s transit for the first time with luggage, the short journey wasn’t troublesome.

I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed for three nights and could easily have made it our home for a week or more. Ideal location in Amsterdam, and super cozy room. The rooftop patio was a wonderful addition to our stay and we hope to make it back and stay here again in the future. Plus, our host was gracious and helpful with local tips.

Great lodging in a very central location in Amsterdam! It’s about 20 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central station (and less if you take transit), and about 15-20 minutes walk to Rijksmuseum.

Aside from the location, the view is fantastic! Right on one of the canals. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We walked everywhere.

Room is spacious and comfortable. The sink in the bathroom is small, but not a problem at all as we often used the one outside in the “kitchen” area. As others have mentioned, the stairs are steep, but just take your time.

Overall a wonderful spot to stay in Amsterdam. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

We stayed here for 5 nights. Super spot! Excellent location. Great value. Good sized room with everything you would need. Would stay again for sure. Can get a little noisy on the street on a Saturday night but that is probably true for almost anywhere in Amsterdam. Stairs are steep and narrow - keep that in mind when booking. Two thumbs up!

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at this lovely canal-side apartment. Booking was very easy via email, and the host stayed in touch through WhatsApp, meeting us personally on arrival. He was incredibly kind and even helped carry our heavy luggage up AND down the stairs — a much-appreciated gesture!

The apartment, located on the 1st floor, was spacious and offered a beautiful view over the Singel Canal. The neighbourhood itself was peaceful and quiet, yet still close to everything we needed.

Our host made us feel right at home, taking the time to point out interesting places nearby and ensuring we had everything for a comfortable stay. The apartment was well-equipped, with shampoo, body wash, and coffee-making facilities provided.

There are many great breakfast spots in the area — we especially enjoyed The Sandwitchshop | Rokin. For dinner, The Joan, conveniently located right next door, was fantastic.

Staying in a traditional canal house gave us a truly authentic Amsterdam experience. It was a unique and memorable way to understand how locals live in these historic and charming homes. Highly recommended!

The room with the terrace was great. I enjoyed eating breakfast and drinking wine on the terrace every day. The location was great. All the sights are within walking distance. The owner of the flat responds quickly to questions. He even interrupted his dinner with his family to answer a text message.

Firstly, the apartment was beautiful (room 1), much more spacious and stylish than we expected. We also really appreciated the late check-in; after our delayed flight we arrived around 11:30pm, and the host (whose name I unfortunately missed) was very welcoming and helpful with his local advice and the maps provided. The stairs leading up to our room were steep almost ladder like, but we got used to them.

That said, there were a couple of issues that unfortunately affected our stay. The location was indeed central, but contrary to practically all the reviews describing it as quiet, we experienced very loud groups of people that gathered in front of the accommodation until around 4am every night of our stay (Wednesday night through to Sunday morning). Ironically, on Saturday night, the noise finished a little earlier, but then from 6:30am there were two men outside our window talking loudly, playing music, and singing for over an hour. The lack of sleep each night left us too tired to fully enjoy the days. We had to return to our room throughout the days to try and snooze to reclaim some of our lost sleep. The front of the property has large sash windows and even when fully closed, did not block out the sound from the street.

In addition, while less serious, both towels provided were quite rough and had a strong damp smell, which made them unpleasant to use.

Given the cost of the stay and the fact it was booked as a special occasion, it did feel disappointing that these issues impacted our experience so significantly.

I did write to the booking agent upon our return regarding this and did receive an email back saying that we should have said at the time about the noise disturbances. We were advised that the host would have reported to the local authorities on our behalf. I regret that we did not do this, we tried to grab what little sleep we could each night and because it was not a hotel set up did not think that anything could have been done, that in fact, maybe this was normal for the area and people were used to it? Maybe it would have made a difference, but maybe the people would have been moved on only to be replaced by others or maybe the authorities have to get several people complaining before anything is done? The host was staying above, though apparently not on every night but given that it is meant to be a quiet area, surely this extreme level of noise every night would have prompted reports?

Regarding the towels, once again, because it was not a hotel I did not think to raise it. Lesson learned, in the future, I will say something, though really I feel like clean nice smelling towels are a standard thing to expect.

We were offered a discount for a future stay as compensation but respectfully declined as we would not wish to risk another potentially sleepless stay...

Awesome spot! Location is IDEAL.

Room was incredibly comfortable, and the view was to die for. The rooftop was an awesome inclusion with my room. It was so lovely to spend the evening up there to watch the sunset over the canal.

The stairs are not for the faint of heart. Very steep and narrow. Making it up and down the four flights was a workout! If possible, pack light as carrying large suitcases up and down those stairways was very difficult

I made the mistake of assuming that the email saying you were to pay cash at check in was just a translation misinterpretation. I was wrong and that was my fault! Luckily the host was very kind, and pointed me to an ATM which I unfortunately had issues with. He was very accommodating and let me pay via PayPal instead.

I would come back here in a heartbeat (with less suitcases)!
